Photography can be an expensive hobby...

While picking up my photographic toys after playing around this weekend, I realized I have accumulated quite a lot of gear.

To be fair, I started this hobby in 2000, so at least it's eight years of accumulation.

Cameras:

  • Nikon D50 - Now my primary camera, DSLR.
  • Fuji FinePix Z10 - My secondary compact P+S camera, everyone should have one!
  • Nikon N70 - My old film SLR, now gathering dust.
  • Toshiba PDR-M71 - My first digital camera. I recently gave it away, so you won't see any new photos with it from me.

Lenses:

  • Nikkor AF-SDx 18-55m f3.5-5.6 ED II (52mm)
  • Tamron AF 70-300mm f4-5.6LD (58mm)
  • Tamron AF 24-70mm f3.3-5.6 (62 mm)

Lighting:

  • Opus M100SR Flash (with softbox)
  • Opus M40 Flash (with umbrella)
  • Opus Imagelite kit (1000 watts)

Accessories:

  • Remote shutter release for D50
  • Nikon AS-15 sync terminal adapter
  • Cable release for N70
  • Stepping ring 58-62mm
  • Circular polarizer (62mm)
  • FLW magenta filter (62mm)
  • Optex T260 tripod
  • Slik Compact tripod

Wish List:

  • Macro lens
  • ND (3 stops) filter
  • extension tube
  • Speedlight
  • Nikon D200

Books:

  • Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera by Bryan Peterson
  • Corrective Lighting, Posing & Retouching for Digital Portrait Photographers by Jeff Smith
  • Photo Idea Index by Jim Krause
  • Master Lighting Guide for Portrait Photographers by Christopher Grey
  • The Betterphoto Guide to Digital Photography by Jim Miotke
  • Learning to See Creatively: Design, Color & Composition in Photography by Bryan Peterson
  • Portrait Photographer's Handbook by Bill Hurter
  • Successful Glamour Photography by Duncan Evans
  • Naked Happy Girls by Emma Jane Taylor
Now if only I could start taking good pictures...

Well at lunch today I picked up a few more items.

a 52-62mm stepping ring so I can use my 62mm filters on my newer lens.

A bean bag style support for the camera. Sort of a tripod replacement. It weighs less than 1 lb and is less bulky to carry around.

Lastly the ND filter I wanted. Although it's on order, I won't get it for a few weeks. That's ok, I probably won't make use of that one until the summer anyway.
